Reel recommendation |

I just bought a Beautiful Aroner 8' 3/2 for 5 wt Hunt model rod. It weighs about 4.4 oz. I am surp[rised but when I try out some old reels it looks like I
neddd something weighing 6.5 oz to balance it. I love saracione reels and have several but nione that weigh that much. Any recommendations?

An old GoatRoper once taught me a trick. If the reel will handle it, use a coated lead core line before adding your backing.
Brook Trout are God's way of reminding us everything is going to be all right.

Use the lightest reel you can find, most probably a Hardy Lightweight. Why tote the extra weight?

peacefisher wrote:From a strictly tournament casting perspective, I'd agree with this. But from a fishing perspective, "It all depends". My opinion only, if the rod is to be used for fishing, if it feels too tip heavy when I am actually fishing it, it's tiring. A little bit of weight in the butt end (through the clever use of a heavier reel, a little leadcore, etc) can turn the rod into an all day fisher. Just my opinion.
