Garrison tapers. |

We all have casting styles and I'm finding that the Garrison tapers in the medium fast vein fit my style very well. I own a 198,(tweaked 193) 206e and a
209e and am in love with how these rods cast. The ones I have are built by AJ and Art Weiler and are well built and in the Garrison tradition very understated.
thinking about a 201e as my next purchase. Anyone else love Garrison tapers?

Andre I really enjoy the Garrison 201 and 204E. The 201 is a superb 7 ft 4 wt or even a DT3 works well. Knowing your casting style I think you would really
like a 204E which is 7'3" for a 4/5 and casts both well.

I fish a Jordan Mill's Garrison 193 from the lot that Carmine commisioned back in the 80's. It was made to duplicate originals in fit and finish. An
action that is on the medium side with a DT4. Really a lot of fun with size 16-24 dries on those small to mid size streams. Tim

My first bamboo rod was a Mark Ruhe-made 206E. It wasn't a bad rod but whether it was that it was my first cane rod, the taper or the maker's
interpretation I just never felt completely comfortable with it. Never had that "a-ha" moment like I've had with some rods.

I really enjoy my Cunningham Garrison 209E and 193. I especially had a great day with the 193 late last fall catching wild trout with Tim and Spruce. The
rods just seem very predictable in their casting habits.

Thanks for the tickle folks. I recently picked up a 209E taper by Bob Lancaster. This is an early rod effort by Mr. Lancaster. I fished it once with a Sylk
5 DT and it left me saying "so what." After reading this thread I just lawn cast it with a Wulff 5TG and a 444 5WF. The Wulff seems to suit the rod
very well. I know it's only lawn casting but I really enjoy the way the rod loads. Looks like I need to give this thing another shot on the stream.

Bring it next time and I'll bring my 209e and we'll compare. dDd you notice how Eric stuck "wild trout" in there?

Yep, anymore most of them wave a white flag and swim into the net when I enter the stream. If they don't, I consider them wild.
